Joanna Ferrell

Joanna was born and raised in Houston, Texas (by way of England, Germany, & Ireland). Now residing in Brooklyn, she is only a few years away from earning her “official” New Yorker status! At Marcy, Joanna is the go-to expert for business strategy and partnership development, focusing on expanding our hiring commitments and building impactful relationships across the tech sector.

As a professional superpower, she has the incredible ability to become someone's trusted confidant the first time they meet her, building rapport with our Fellows incredibly quickly and knowing exactly how and where to push them on their path to success. Before joining Marcy, Joanna served over 1,000 NYC youth by leading work-based learning initiatives, including internships and apprenticeships at Fortune 100 companies at CareerWise New York. Joanna is deeply committed to social justice & equity, strength-based learning, and continuing the fight for systems change. In her spare time, you may find her on the Metro-North headed to a new destination, checking her horoscope for the 3rd time that day, creating inviting & cozy spaces through interior design, or striking up a conversation with a complete stranger at one of her favorite Brooklyn haunts! She is currently listening to 'Clones' by Tierra Whack.
